Qualias have been introduced
by some philosophers to describe the perceptive quality of sensations
that cannot be communicated to people lacking the appropriate senses,
examples of qualias are the redness of red objects or the
softness of things that can be touched. The problem of qualia
appears when for example one attempts to describe red to a blind
person: the person can never completely understand this property of
objects. A lot of discussion has centered on the actual existence of
